Jo's Secret Garden
|
SpringtimeWintry weather has arrived this week, nipping in the bud any plans I may have had to tidy the garden... Snowdrops have appeared though, aptly, giving the ground some signs of life. Still, I remain resolute in my resistance of Skene's plan to "pave the whole damned thing". I'm hoping that some of my compost will be ready so that I'll be able to improve the lousy soil a little. And some more dedicated watering on my part won't go amiss. The lawn will have to be re-sown (for the third summer in a row!). But I'm hoping that the vegetable plot will produce more rocket, spinach and tomatoes. I shall resist the temptation to overload it as I did last year. So all that remains is to decide what to put in my six foot long bed, opposite the monstrous pitto sporum. I fancy hydrangeas (Granny's favourite) with lavender. Both seem to be fairly resilient so that's promising at least... Watch this space! Spring 2005 |
