Thanks to a Pegasus Scholarship, I set off for New Zealand at the end of August 2004 to spend three months working for Meredith Connell in Auckland.

You can read my official report to the Pegasus Trust here. Alternatively, you can find out more about some of the hot legal and cultural topics in New Zealand here.

I did, of course, make the most of this opportunity to explore the south-east corner of the globe and the clerks may not have forgiven me for that yet.

I dropped in on Fiji on the way there, just to recover from my jet-lag before starting work.

After my placement, Skene and I coaxed a campervan all the way from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island before spending Christmas with Skene's family in Wellington.

And we then took the long way home via Victoria and the Great Ocean Road, where we spent New Year, and Perth to visit more not-quite-in-laws.

You can read all about my extra-curricular exploits on my blog. And a much-edited photo album is available here.
